WEF 2024, Davos

Once again, officials from governments, public organisations, business and finance come together at the World Economic Forum Annual Summit 2024 to tackle multiple global crises guided by this year's theme: 'Rebuilding trust’.

Geopolitical uncertainties, high interest rates, energy and food security, the impact of generative AI, and of course the effects of climate change are of particular relevance.

The Global Markets Forum reports live from Davos once again on the most pressing issues impacting markets, business and the world today.

Inflation, growth and the path ahead for monetary policy

Central banks around the world have taken the battle against inflation head-on by quickly and firmly tightening monetary policy. Speculation continues on how much growth will get choked as markets seesaw on conflicting data points and commentary. Markets also have to deal with a delicate global economic and geopolitical environment.

We will continue to discuss these topics on GMF as the year progresses.

Clean energy

ESG is now firmly established as a must for investors, companies and regulators. As trillions of dollars are chasing ESG investments and companies are scrambling to be on the right side of the trend, regulators begin setting rules on investing and disclosures, scrutinising claims and bringing much-needed oversight to the market. GMF will track developments in climate transformation, including how investors set climate goals and their progress in meeting these targets.
